MG's lifeguard is always on duty

We did finally meet with MG's doctor about the barrium swallow study she had done in January. The results showed that she reflexes all the way back up to her throat. Poor girl. Her doctor actually gasped when she read the results. For now Zantac is helping and we hope this means less sinus infections and asthma issues since reflex is most likely the root of those problems and soon we hope to take her off the asthma medicine, hooray for finally getting to the real issue! When a child has asthma on top of nut allergies they are at a higher risk for fatal reactions.
Two recent FAAN studies involving a total of 63 cases of fatal food-allergy-induced anaphylaxis showed that adolescents who have peanut and tree nut allergy and asthma, and who don't have quick access to epinephrine during a reaction, are at highest risk for a fatal reaction.

Although her peanut and tree nut allergies are still severe I'm hoping that taking asthma out of the equation might make the difference when it comes to a fatal reaction. Either way I'm not going to test the issue, I'm still keeping her Epinephrine close by.
I think of myself as her personal lifegard who is always on duty!
